Heptagon, the Colombian military industrial complex
I will recite our mantra one more time: “We have been
figthing the longest guerrilla war for fifty years in a row and even so we are
the oldest and more stable democracy in the continent.”
Aside of the political aspect, we have an important fact, the
Colombian army has a real and valuable experience in the teather of operations.
But as long as our troops and our commanders get better in
their warfare affairs and get trained using sophisticated foreign weapons, the
local military industry remains very basic and without profit from the great
opportunity.
Indumil is the military colombian company owned by the state
which is actually running by military and is profitable but still has a low
profile portfolio of products and their main client was of course the colombian
army and the colombian police.
For instance, the army standard rifle fo their troops is the
israelian Galil Ace, of course indumil produce some spare parts for the rifle which use to export to Israel, but inspite the huge and real experience in a real
battle field, Indumil have not be able to produce a 100% colombian rifle tailored specifically for the counter guerrilla warfare in the tropic and in
the mountains.
We still have time to develop our own military industry ,taking
advantage of our army great experience, but we should do it together with the
private sector.
Heptagon will be a military industrial complex fueled by the
private sector companies and the startups. Heptagon will work trought the
spectrum auction system to develop their portfolio of products.
